Catherine Li

2017-2018 Volunteer Coordinator

Catherine first learned chess in Grade 1 when she joined her school’s chess club.  In elementary school, Catherine played in a wide range of tournaments, from school tournaments to international ones.

Catherine heard about Chess in the Library after she was a student of Yuanling Yuan, the founder of CITL.  She joined as a Junior Executive from 2016-2017 when her sister, Kristen Li, became the President of CITL.

As the current volunteer coordinator, Catherine is in charge of recruiting new volunteers and taking care of current volunteers.  She will answer any questions and handle any of your concerns.  This CITL year, Catherine hopes to help expand Chess in the Library to new locations and to give more high school students a chance to give back to their community.

Catherine is currently a Grade 11 student at Senator O’Connor College School and is a part of the French Immersion and AP programs.  Even though she has stopped playing competitively, Catherine plays chess every week as part of her school’s chess club.

Other than CITL, Catherine enjoys gaming, playing the alto saxophone, watching action movies, and spending time with her friends and family.
